I think it's a great product for tracking sleep. However, as soon as the intensity of activity ramps up, then the HR sensor seems to struggle to keep up and gives quite inaccurate results.
Where I particularly enjoyed wearing it though, was to bed. The results were very similar to those that I got from my other wearables, and the ability to "write" to Apple Health means that I didn't feel the need to wear my Apple Watch or Fitbit Air to bed. I was confident in those results. The fit and finish is nice, especially considering the price. I wore mine as a wedding ring alternative, as it's the most comfortable finger to wear it on whilst playing golf. The thickness of the ring could sometimes feel a little uncomfortable whilst doing this. However, it's packing a lot of tech, so that's understandable!
I would have felt more comfortable wearing it as a wedding ring alternative if the materials were a little more premium and potentially heavier. However, that might be more of a personal preference.
Battery life is decent, and I really like the fact that it vibrates at notifications. However, would it make sense to take it the vibration motor and have a larger and more accurate HR sensor, because...
Where the ring falls down is the accuracy of the HR sensor when doing strenuous activity. It's always much lower than my other fitness trackers and therefore it's calculations for calories isn't accurate at all. Therefore I couldn't get away with only wearing this when weight lifting or playing football. (I've included screenshots of the difference in activity tracked between the Sekonda Smart Ring and my Apple Watch in the Apple Fitness App.
On that note, there are also far too many options for activity in the app. Strength training, dumbbells, weight lifting, lower body, upper body, back workout, functional training... What if I'm doing an upper body, strength training session with dumbbells?
Overall, nice product for a good price.
It's not something I could recommend to somebody wanting to replace any kind of fitness tracker. But for general health insights, as an accompany device alongside their tracker, then absolutely. Especially for the price. It particularly shines for sleep data and general health data when you don't want to wear an actual watch because of aesthetics or comfortability.I would recommend the Sekonda Smart Ring to anybody who isn't serious about fitness, but wanted to get some unobtrusive health and sleep insights. The step counting and calorie tracking was very useful for me to get back on track to a healthier lifestyle. If I was to lose it, it would be something I would repurchase and I like the colour. The smart ring fit really well into my daily life and didn’t need to be charged everyday like smart watches used in the past. This ring is awesome ! compared to other known brands out there this is real value for money, with This ring is awesome ! compared to other known brands out there this is real value for money, with a very easy to app and super easy to set up. I'm a keen runner and have had many GPS watches so was keen to test how accurate this would be against the big brands, and happy to say it's just as accurate so a great option for tracking excercise. The app also has a tonne of excercises listed within it that are way over and above a lot of the GPS devices on the market.
